House reef & turtle snorkel
Turtles, reef sharks and parrotfish on the reefs around Dhiffushi. Guide, mask and fins included.

Fourteen rooms on the sunrise side of the atoll. Walnut, brass and ivory stone inside; reef, sandbanks and a quiet island village outside.

Heron Beach sits on Dhiffushi, a local island of about 1,200 people on the eastern rim of North Malé Atoll. Nothing stands between the island and the open Indian Ocean, so the sun comes up here before almost anywhere else in the country.
We kept the hotel small on purpose. Fourteen rooms, a beachfront restaurant and a team that learns your name on the first morning. The grey heron that stalks the shallows every dawn gave us our name; you will find him in brass on the staircase too.
Discover Dhiffushi
Front-row rooms facing the reef and the sunrise. Wake up, open the balcony door and the first thing you see is the lagoon going gold.

Walnut, brass and ivory stone, with a balcony for slow mornings. The room most couples book for a longer stay.

A calm, well-priced base a minute from the beach, for guests who plan to spend their days on the water.
Breakfast at the beach table, reef fish for dinner, and Maldivian short eats in between. The kitchen buys from the island's fishermen each afternoon.
Dining at Heron Beach
Coffee on the east beach as the sun clears the horizon.
Boat out to snorkel with turtles on the outer reef.
Lunch on a sandbank, then an afternoon of nothing.
Sunset cruise with spinner dolphins in the channel.
Grilled catch by lantern light, then stars and plankton.

Turtles, reef sharks and parrotfish on the reefs around Dhiffushi. Guide, mask and fins included.

A boat to a strip of white sand in the middle of the lagoon, with lunch and time to do nothing at all.

Spinner dolphins often run alongside the boat as the sun drops behind the atoll.
